As the largest and most significant ICT and electronics events in Vietnam, Vietnam International Communications Summit & Expo (also known as "Vietnam Comm 2009") and the International Exhibition in Vietnam on Electronics Products 2009 (also known as "Vietnam Electronics 2009") closed with resounding success at Vietnam Exhibition & Fair Centre (VEFAC), Hanoi, SR Vietnam. Officially sponsored by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and co-organized by the Vietnam Posts & Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd (Adsale), the twin expos attracted 18,256 trade visitors to the 4-day show to experience the latest technology, products and services brought by around 200 exhibitors from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong SAR, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, P R China, Singapore, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, USA and Vietnam.

Support from the Government and both Overseas and Local Ministries and Industry Associations
Numerous key representatives attended the expos and summit, including Dr. Do Trung Ta, Envoy to the Prime Minister on ICT, Chairman of the National Council for Science and Technology Policy; Dr. Le Doan Hop, Minister of Ministry of Information and Communications; Mr. Pham Huu Huan, Vice Minister, Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Welfare together with Ministers and government officials from Cambodia, France, Laos, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka, which reflected the authoritative status and significance of the twin expos in Vietnam ICT and electronics industries as well as their positive impact to neighboring countries.

Presence of Overseas Industry Pavilions Enhanced International Content of the Expos

Over 60 notable enterprises, organized by Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA), Ambassade De France Au Vietnam Mission Economique (UBIFRANCE), CCPIT Electronics and Information Industry Sub-Council, China PTAC Communications Services Co., Ltd. and Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA) exhibited in the twin expos and demonstrated quality products, services as well as innovative ideas, which answered to the development need of Vietnam ICT and electronics market and at the same time could be widely applied to different industrial sectors such as public utilities, health care, banking & finance, manufacturing and many more.

3G Related Exhibits and Solutions were Highlighted

The recent launch of 3G services by local operators led to a wave of discussion and attention on 3G products, technologies and solutions deployment and application in Vietnam. During the exhibition period, 3G/3.5G products/ technologies/ solutions, TV/ entertainment, content and applications, mobile commerce/ advertising, digital multimedia broadcasting, fixed mobile convergence, mobile broadband, internet, security, gaming and many more exhibits were showcased with innovative display and interactive demonstration.

For instance, NTT DOCOMO, demonstrated its new series of "i-mode" including agent service (i-concier), online applications (i-appli online) and widget applications (i-widget), which could provide services and content perfectly suited to mobile phones such as games, music & video channels, GPS, mobile TV, email, remote control, translation, mobile wallet and many more services. Huawei, demonstrated its comprehensive services such as WiMAX, Single RAN, BSS, IMS, PS, SDP Solutions, FTTX, IP Microwave under the main themes of "3G Convergent Network", "Next Generation Broadband & Network" and "2G/3G Products".

On the other hand, ZTE showcased its comprehensive range of convergent innovative mobile solutions, green products, broadband & new network as well as data card and many more under the main theme of "Global Customization". Orange France Telecom shared its know-how in 3G applications and demonstrated state-of-the-art services that could add high value and simplicity to 3G usages in Vietnam such as "Mobile Dev Camp", "Orange TV" and "TeaMobile" among others. In addition, local leading telecom operators Vinaphone also demonstrated its diversified services such as mobile broadband, mobile internet, mobile camera and mobile TV and many more under the main theme of "3G Power".

Series of Awards were Presented during the Opening Banquet

To recognize the effort of the exhibitors, who contributed to the continuous growth of the industries in Vietnam and their outstanding demonstration in the twin expos, series of awards were presented during the Opening Banquet. Awards of Appreciation were given to Mobifone and Vinaphone; The Awards of Best Booth Design were given to Orange France Telecom, Vinaphone and ZTE while the Awards of Most Interactive Booth were given to Mobifone, NTT DOCOMO and VNPT. Last but not the least, Huawei, Nokia Siemens Networks and Q-Mobile won the Media Favorite Awards. One of the breakthroughs this year was the writing contest on the topic of "The Best Idea in Future ICT Vietnam", which aimed at giving future development insights to Vietnam's industry professionals from the end users' view points. The winner was finally selected among over 100 participants. Award and fabulous prizes were given to the winner during the Opening Banquet.

Concurrent Summit, Another Spotlighted Event for Market Intelligence Exchange

Being held concurrently with the expos, the high-level summit provided an effective platform for industry professionals not only to grasp the latest market update and share business development experience, but also to build network with potential business partners. First day of the summit kicked off the high-level discussion under the main theme of "Vietnam's ICT Development Now & Beyond and ICT Development Trend in the World" and more topics under the main theme of "Technology Innovations & Applications for Business & Life" while second day of the summit shared on numerous hottest topics under the theme of "Network Development & Management Trend in the Integration Era". The organizers were honoured to receive active participation from related ministries, regulators, operators and enterprises.

Great Satisfaction from Exhibitors and Visitors

To maximize the participation effectiveness of the exhibitors, the organizers provided business consultancy service at the fairground, which was much welcomed and utilized by the exhibitors. In fact, about 80% of exhibitors indicated that they will participate or consider participation in the next shows, Vietnam Telecomp/ Vietnam Electronics 2010 in HCM City. Overwhelming feedback on booth reservation was received from both exhibitors and non-exhibitors during the events.

At the same time, over 80% visitors indicated that they achieved the objectives of visiting the twin expos, which included to meet suppliers and potential buyers, gather overseas product information and latest information of telecom and electronics industries.
