Over 18,000 Trade Visitors Flocked to
The Largest Telecom and ICT Show in Vietnam

Vietnam Telecomp - Electronics 2006, the largest telecom and ICT show in Vietnam closed with resounding success on September 16, 2006 at HoChiMinh City International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Vietnam. A total of 18,208 trade visitors flocked to this show to experience the latest telecom solutions and technology.

At the fairground, over 180 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions presented their world-of-the-art products that open up new business opportunities and more effective workflows for customers. Moreover, this year, four group pavilions were organized from PR China, Korea and Singapore, bringing 57 companies there to explore cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese partners.

Occupying a prominent display area, international renowned enterprises, such as Alcatel, Ericsson, France Telecom, Fujitsu Vietnam, Huawei, Motorola, Nokia, NTT DoCoMo, Qualcomm, Samsung, Siemens, Sun Microsystems and ZTE etc. demonstrated their creativity and vigor at the show. In addition to the attention from well known brands, many new exhibitors were also interested in introducing their products to the promising Vietnamese market, such as, Advanced Network, Avitec, Bandshine, Bharti Teletech, CBOSS, Delta, Eastern Research, Fiber Logic, Shyam, Vallent etc.

As for exhibits, on display were products and technologies being used for new-generation telecom networks worldwide and many different IT solutions, such as fee calculation management systems, customer care systems, value added services, and integrated content provision in mobile services. Visitors could also discover solutions which helped to manage multi-vendor and multi-technology network efficiently.

ZTE, one of the market leaders in China, brought her GoTa digital trunking services to Vietnam market. Her CDMA-based GoTa system was one of the highlights of the show as it was used by the event organizers to provide communications during the show period.

Huawei, another Chinese giant providing next generation telecommunications network solutions, attracted top-tier region telecom operators with its impressive line-up of next generation products and solutions at the show. For the first time, Huawei showcased three mobile containers that are packed with cutting-edge products and solutions on NGN, UTMS and Data Communications.

NTT DoCoMo was the first time to introduce the innovative role of i-mode whereas Sony Ericsson also introduced the latest handsets during the event. Other exhibits which were also new to Vietnam's market included Alcatel's Triple Play Service Delivery Architecture, IP Transformation, Broadband Services, Loop-AM 3440 Access DCS-MUX; Keymile's Next Generation and multi-service access solutions; Motorola's "Seamless Mobility: Path to a Converged Future" which is a network of wireless access networks and technologies that together, create a seamless connectivity between and among devices, etc..

To capture the attention of visitors, exhibitors designed many gimmicks to highlight their presence, such as mini concert, rock & roll, roller-skating performance, trial of 3G technology products and a lot of live demos of advanced technologies, etc.

Alongside the exhibition, a series of forum focusing on the topics of Recent and Future Development of Vietnam ICT Industry, Mobile Communications, NGN, Broadband and IT were held to further facilitate technology and information exchange.

Ministry of Posts and Telematics (MPT) shared with audiences on Vietnam's telecommunications and Internet development planning to 2010 and orientation to 2020, while the market leading companies presented their hot topics about telecom industry with specific solutions. Qualcomm gave an insight on the development and deployment on various high-speed wireless technologies including Bluetooth, WiFi, WiMAX, FLASH-OFDM, UMTS, HSDPA, and CDMA 1xEV-DO (Rel 0/RevA); Motorola demonstrated how WiMax can provide more economical and effective broadband services and Vallent provided an overview of how to proactively manage multi-vendor, multi-technology networks can improve overall network utilization and increase productivity for the services providers, etc.

Trade visitors of Vietnam Telecomp - Electronics 2006 came not only from Vietnam, but also from Australia, Canada, India, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, PR China (including Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan Province), Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, UK, USA, etc., reflecting the increasing importance of Vietnamese market.

The organizing team of Vietnam Telecomp - Electronics 2006 announced that a wireless & IT event, namely Vietnam International Communications Summit & Expo 2007 (VietnamComm 07), will be organized from September 19-22, 2007 at Vietnam Exhibition and Fair Centre, Hanoi, Vietnam. The staging of this show will further promote the development of telecom and IT industries in Vietnam and establish a good platform where foreign and domestic companies can meet and open new business opportunities. Visitors welcomed this arrangement and over 65% of interviewed visitors indicated their interest in visiting the show next year.
